Whitehaven Beach

WHITEHAVEN BEACH & HILL INLET
ARE THE JEWEL IN THE WHITSUNDAYS’ CROWN

Award-winning Whitehaven Beach is renowned as one of the finest in the world. Pristine azure-blue waters gently lapping the shores of brilliant white sand, this is a true island paradise by any measure.

Located on Whitsunday Island, the largest of the 74 islands in the Whitsundays. Whitehaven Beach stretches over seven kilometres and boasts brilliant white silica sand which feels cool to the touch and is among the purest in the world. Time seems to stand still as you stroll along the shore and a sense of tranquility absorbs your total being. This is the essence of oneness with nature at its very best.

At the northern end of Whitehaven Beach is Hill Inlet, a beautiful passage where the tide shifts the sand and water to create a stunning fusion of colour and texture. The lookout at Tongue Point is the best spot from which to view the swirling sands of Hill Inlet if you’re prepared to make the 15 minute walk through protected native bushland.

Chartering a yacht to reach Whitehaven Beach means you can determine when your arrive and how long you stay, allowing you to enjoy this magnificent experience as you wish.

HOW TO GET TO WHITEHAVEN BEACH

Based at the Eastern end of Whitsunday Island, the journey to Whitehaven Beach from Coral Sea Marina is approximately 4 – 5 hours, or 2 – 3 hours from Hamilton Island.

The safest and most protected anchorage for overnight stays is the south end of the Beach, adjacent Chalkies Beach, or alternatively around the north end of the Island at Tongue Bay.

Your briefing guidelines and our radio operators will be able to advise the best anchoring locations based on current weather conditions & tides.

Bucket List: This is definitely a location not to be missed during your Whitsunday sailing holiday!
